Extending Learning Beyond the Classroom

Clayton County Public Schools is excited to announce that this Friday, October 8, 2021 is the 3rd Extended Learning Beyond the Classroom (ELBC) Day for 2021-2022. All Callaway Knights will remain home for asynchronous (independent) learning, while staff report to work for in-person training, lesson planning, and data analysis.

Important: This is a learning day. Students will access their assignments from their teachers and work independently at home. Here at Callaway, we are using this time for students to explore their STEM minds. All assignments for Grades K-5 are due Tuesday, October 19th, when students return to the building.

Please also note that school issued laptops for Grades 3-5 students will be sent home with students who have returned their ELBC agreement form, Thursday, October 7th. Laptops for 3-5 students will need to be returned back to school Tuesday, October 19th.

If you have any questions about assignments please contact your child's teacher. The directions will be provided with each grade level task. The tasks are as follows:

K- Is It Alive?
1st- U.S. Geography Intro
2nd-STEM Candy Corn
3rd- Notable Hispanics in STEM Project
4th- Marshmallow Catapult
5th- Electricity in Motion

All tasks are hands-on activities that relate to STEM learning that uses scientific inquiry based skills and thinking. Parents, we would love for you to take pictures and share with teachers of your scholars creating and innovating on Friday.

How will students be counted present for the ELBC day?
All students will be counted present. Students will be expected to adhere to their teacher’s procedures for completing and submitting assignments.

How and when will in-person instruction students receive their meals?
All students will collect their breakfast and lunch meals for Friday’s ELBC Day on Thursday at school.

How will virtual learning students receive their meals?
All virtual learning students will receive their breakfast and lunch meals for Friday’s ELBC Day when they pick up their meals on Thursday at school.
